Milan to Rome

Thursday, August 11

We got a taxi from the Hotel Berna to Milan Linate airport where we caught an Alitalia flight to Rome. We were going to get the train to the Central station and then walk to our B&B but decided on a taxi, which turned out to be a good move. On the Autostrada into Rome the driver got up to 140kph, and in 80kph zones he was doing 120kph! They all think they are racing drivers the way they drive!!

We got settled into the B&B and them went for a walk to get re-acquainted with Rome. You don't have to walk far to see historic churches, palaces and ruins going back thousands of years, and you can feel the history by just spotting the Colosseum, the Forum or the Columns nearby. We ate early and then slowly walked back to our B&B, as we need an early night after some recent late ones! We also want to make the most of our time in Rome, as it's 8 years since we were last here.
