It was an early start as we had arranged a taxi to pick us up at 8am so we could catch the bus to Seville at 9am. After loading our cases on the bus and waiting about 20 minutes, we were then told to take them off as they had to change buses! We left a bit late but finally arrived in Seville and got to our hotel by 1pm. Fortunately our room was ready so we dropped our cases in and went and had a nice lunch.
Seville is very hot in the afternoon and there was a really hot wind blowing - a bit like in Melbourne on a very hot day. We decided on an afternoon siesta and then come out and play later! Our hotel is located in the old town, so we decided to explore this area for a couple of hours at night. As we wandered around we came across a nice statue of a flamenco lady, and a bit further on a special exhibition in a spectacular building. The guard on duty told us the exhibition was to disply the pieces of jewellery used to decorate a statue of the Virgin which is then carried from the church of San Sebastián here to the main cathedral and back again at Easter time. The building the exhibition was held in was a couple of hundred years old and is now used as a private club!
The shop windows really attracted us as we walked around as they were different to the ones in Malaga and were decorated with all the local goodies, especially Flamenco related. Noelle couldn't resist the shoe shops and there were plenty of them! Some of the buildings were fabulous too so we really enjoyed our walk in the cooler night air - again with lots of people out and about as well.
