Today was a big travel day! We set our alarm at 3:30am to be ready for our shuttle to the Fairbanks airport at 4:10am. It was cold and rainy (surprise, surprise) when we boarded the coach, and we finally arrived at the airport just before 5am after picking up more guests at another hotel.
Check-in went smoothly, we enjoyed a coffee while we waited, and the plane departed on schedule at 6:30am so we snoozed a bit before some nibbles and a drink were served. We reached Seattle ahead of schedule and then headed to the food court for some lunch.
We had just finished our lunch and were about to go for a walk to stretch our legs when we saw our friends Jenny and Brian, so they joined us and helped the next couple of hours go quickly before we said our goodbyes and went to board our respective planes.
Unfortunately our plane was nearly an hour late in departing for the 35 minute flight to Vancouver, and then one of our cases wasn't on the carousel that the others came off but appeared on a different one! We finally picked up the hire car and headed off for our hotel, but without our GPS working. Tony is a good navigator and our hotel was easy to find with the good old fashioned paper map!
Our hotel sits above an Irish pub so we went straight there for a pint and some good Irish food before turning in for an early night before we start our road trip around Canada tomorrow.
