We awoke to a cold, wet morning in Copenhagen and after breakfast with Burgess and Pat, we went for a short walk in the nearby area. Bill & Linda met us near the hotel. They had hoped to leave the ship (they have sailed on the Royal Princess from Fort Lauderdale) and join us for breakfast but the ship was late in docking and because it has never berthed at Copenhagen before and it is so big, there were challenges with the gangway being too short, etc. It was so nice to all catch up again and it seemed like we had not been apart. Bill & Linda decided to do a bus tour around the city but the four of us had to finish packing and check out of the hotel. We then caught a cab to the dock to board the Royal Princess around noon.
WOW!!! What an amazing ship! It is huge (larger than Eastland Shopping Centre), with so many restaurants and shops (including a Godiva Chocolate Shop just for Noelle) and all really nicely decorated. Some parts are glitzy but on the whole it is quite tasteful. We have also been upgraded from an Inside Cabin to a Balcony Cabin with our own boat (albeit a Life Boat that partly obstructs our view - but only if you are sitting on the balcony - and given the weather conditions in Scandanavia at present, that is not likely). We have not had time to totally explore the ship and guess this will take all 12 days, but it is safe to say it is a floating city.
Tomorrow we dock in Oslo, Norway and are really looking forward to exploring there. On our return to the ship there will be more exploring to do!
